MOSCOW, Aug. 25 (Xinhua) -- The Russian Emergencies Ministry has delivered about 36 tons of humanitarian aid to Laos, which suffered from a recent flood caused by the break of a dam, the ministry said on Saturday.

The aid was carried out at the decision of the Russian government in response to Laos' request for emergency humanitarian assistance, a ministry statement said.

The humanitarian supplies, delivered by an Il-76 transport aircraft, include mobile power plants, tents, blankets, boats, food products and tableware, according to the statement.

On July 23, an auxiliary dam at the Xe-Pian Xe-Namnoy hydropower plant in the Sanamxay district in southern Laos collapsed. Six of the 13 affected villages were completely wiped out by the flood, which killed dozens of people and left many others missing.
