KIEV, Aug. 28 (Xinhua) -- Ukraine is seeking some 3.5 billion U.S. dollars from international lenders this year, a senior official of the country's central bank said Tuesday.

Oleg Churiy, deputy governor of the National Bank of Ukraine, told reporters that Kiev hopes to obtain a tranche worth about 2 billion dollars from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) by the end of November.

The IMF aid will pave the way for Ukraine to get 1.5 billion dollars in total from the World Bank and the European Commission by the end of this year, Churiy said.

The cooperation with major international lenders will give a positive signal to private investors, enabling Ukraine to issue a fresh batch of eurobonds with an estimated value of 1.5 billion dollars, Churiy said.

Ukraine relies on international financial aid to service its state debt, of which 3.4 billion dollars should be repaid this year.
