WASHINGTON, Aug. 28 (Xinhua) -- The White House said on Tuesday that Polish President Andrzej Duda will make his first official visit to the White House next month to discuss bilateral ties with his U.S. counterpart Donald Trump.

In a statement, the White House said that Duda and his wife will arrive on Sept. 18.

"The visit takes place as Poland celebrates the centennial year of the recovery of its independence and just over a year since President Trump's historic visit to Warsaw on July 5 and 6, 2017," the White House said.

Trump and Duda will "address ways to strengthen the United States-Poland strategic partnership and plan to discuss topics of mutual interest, including trade, military, and security matters," read the statement.

During his visit to Poland last year, Trump hailed Poland as one of the few countries fulfilling their financial obligations and commitments, and "even surpassing it."

Trump also said he strongly supported the Three Seas Initiative and that America was ready to help Poland and other European countries to diversify their energy suppliers so that they would never "be held hostage and dependent on one supplier."

For his part, Duda said that he and Trump talked about regional security, presence of American soldiers in Poland, tightening economic cooperation and U.S. liquefied natural gas (LNG) transports.

"I hope that a long-term contract for the supply of LNG will be signed soon and that this important raw material will be diversified," Duda said. "Poland may become an LNG hub, and this concept will be also brought up within the framework of Three Seas Initiative."

The Three Seas Initiative is a joint idea of the presidents of Poland and Croatia, which seeks to strengthen ties among countries between the Black, Baltic and Adriatic seas. It brings together 12 countries in Central and Eastern Europe as well as the Balkans, including Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Croatia, Slovenia, Bulgaria, Romania and Austria.
