BRUSSELS, Aug. 31 (Xinhua) -- The unemployment rate in the eurozone was stable in July and maintained the lowest rate recorded since November 2008.

Figures published by Eurostat on Friday showed that the eurozone's seasonally-adjusted unemployment rate was 8.2 percent in July, stable compared with June and down from 9.1 percent in July 2017.

Among the member states, the lowest unemployment rates in July were recorded in the Czech Republic at 2.3 percent, Germany at 3.4 percent and Poland at 3.5 percent. The highest unemployment rates were observed in Greece and Spain.

In the wider EU, the unemployment rate was 6.8 percent in July, down from 6.9 percent in June and from 7.6 percent in July 2017. This is the lowest rate recorded in the EU since April 2008.

"We expect continued declines in unemployment over the coming years to feed through to somewhat faster pay growth," said Jack Allen, a senior European economist with European Economics.
