CAIRO, Sept. 1 (Xinhua) -- Al-Azhar, the highest Islamic learning institution for Egypt and the Sunni Muslim world, condemned on Saturday an attack by Boko Haram insurgents that killed 30 Nigerian soldiers in northeastern Nigeria.
In a statement, Azhar called on the international community to exert more efforts to halt bloodshed and eliminate terrorist groups.
Azhar offered condolences to the Nigerian president, government, people and the families of the victims.
At least 30 Nigerian soldiers were killed by Boko Haram rebels in a fight near the border with Niger on Saturday.
