DHAKA, Sept. 6 (Xinhua) -- Bangladesh's overall inflation slightly eased in August at 5.48 percent compared to the previous month.
The country's inflation dropped to 5.51 percent in July compared to that of 5.54 percent in the previous month.
Bangladeshi Planning Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal released the August inflation data Thursday prepared by the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS).
The BBS data showed the country's food inflation in August dipped to 5.97 percent from 6.18 percent in July.
For the non-food items, the inflation rate increased to 4.73 percent in August from 4.49 percent in July 2018.
The average inflation rate in Bangladesh during the 12 months of the last 2017-18 fiscal year (July 2017-June 2018) slightly rose to 5.78 percent.
