YANGON, Sept. 10 (Xinhua) -- Eleven Myanmar fishermen, detained in India for violating its law, have been repatriated to Myanmar, arriving at the Yangon International Airport late on Sunday, according to a press release of the Foreign Ministry Monday.

The Myanmar marine workers were sent back from India's Open Distress Camp after being verified as Myanmar citizens by the Myanmar side through consular negotiation.

The return of the 11 Myanmar marine workers were arranged by the government's related ministries with the airfare provided by well-wishers.

Myanmar authorities have negotiated with India for the return of similar fishermen since three years ago, bringing back 272 in 2016, 133 in 2017 and 44 in 2018 as of September.
