BERLIN, Sept. 21 (Xinhua) -- China and Germany held a second round of a bilateral high-level security dialogue in Berlin on Friday.

Chen Yixin, secretary-general of the Commission for Political and Legal Affairs of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, and Johannes Geismann, State Secretary and Federal Commissioner for Intelligence in German Federal Chancellery, jointly presided over the dialogue.

Both sides agreed that the high-level security dialogue is an important measure toward implementing the joint statement issued by Chinese President Xi Jinping and German Chancellor Angela Merkel on building a comprehensive strategic partnership between their two countries. It showed that China and Germany attach importance to each other in security issues and are cooperating with each other in a trustful way.

The two sides stressed the importance of international cooperation and dialogue on security issues, and agreed to uphold the principle of equality, mutual trust, sincerity and being practical in further deepening their security cooperation.

The two sides exchanged views on efforts to fight terrorism, extremism and cross border crime, as well as on other regional and international security issues. Consensus was reached on issues of common concern and regional and international security issues.

They agreed the next security talks would be held in Beijing in 2019.

Chen also held talks with German Chancellery Minister and Federal Minister for Special Tasks Helge Braun, and Parliamentary State Secretary of the German Interior Ministry Guenter Krings.
