LUSAKA, Sept. 27 (Xinhua) -- Zambia's year-on-year inflation as measured by the all items Consumer Price Index (CPI) slowed down to 7.9 percent in September from 8.1 percent the previous month, its statistics agency said on Thursday.

The Central Statistical Office (CSO) said this means that on average, prices of goods and services increased by 7.9 percent.

Goodson Sinyenga, acting director of the statistics agency attributed the decrease to a reduction in prices of non-food items.

He further said the month-on-month inflation was recorded at 0.2 percent in September from 0.3 percent the previous month, indicating a decrease of 0.1 percentage point.
