TIRANA, Oct. 4 (Xinhua) -- All pharmacies in Albania will not be allowed to give medicine without the doctor's prescription anymore, Albanian Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Ogerta Manastirliu declared on Thursday.

Manastirliu explained the measures taken to prevent the sale of non prescribed drugs and their safety in the pharmaceutical market and added that the selling of non prescribed medicine to teenagers remains a problem.

"The ministry has set up that Task Force to control the medications, but also the delivery of prescription drugs. We have taken 47 measures out of 97 completed checks up to now,"said Manastirliu.

According to Manastirliu, in Albania there are a total of 544 drugs traded without prescription, which have been approved by the Ministry of Health, for which no prescriptions are needed, while the rest are with the doctor's description.
