KIGALI, Oct. 5 (Xinhua) -- Rwanda's high court on Friday granted bail to Diane Shima Rwigara, a woman who showed interest in 2017's presidential election and was charged with inciting insurrection and forgery.

A panel of three judges also granted bail to her mother Adeline Rwigara, who was charged with incitement, discrimination and sectarianism.

The high court in the capital city Kigali ruled the suspects had a right to bail since they were still regarded as innocent before the law, and since investigations into their case had been concluded.

The court however said the suspects are not supposed to go beyond the boundaries of Kigali and are ordered to deposit passports with prosecution among the bail conditions until the hearing of the case are concluded.

Trial in substance is expected to start on Nov. 7, according to the court.

The 35-year-old businesswoman was arrested in September 2017. She was the only female who showed interest in the presidential elections held in August 2017.

However, she failed to fulfill all the requirements for being nominated as a candidate by Rwanda's National Electoral Commission (NEC).

According to the Rwanda penal code, those convicted of inciting insurrection will face punishment of 10 to 15 year sentence in prison while the use of counterfeited papers can bring a jail term of 5 to 7 years.
