BEIRUT, Oct. 9 (Xinhua) -- British Ambassador to Lebanon Chris Rampling said Tuesday Britain and Lebanon will sign an economic partnership agreement soon.

"The two countries will sign a partnership agreement focusing on economy and trade in the near future," local news agency Al Markazia quoted Rampling as saying.

Rampling's remarks came during his meeting with Lebanon's caretaker Economy Minister Raed Khoury.

A the meeting, the British envoy also talked about the Brexit while emphasizing the importance of cooperating with Lebanon.

Meanwhile, Khoury briefed the envoy the economic situation in Lebanon, while underlining the importance of the five-year economic plan prepared by the consulting firm Mckinsey.

The company, hired earlier this year with a six-month agreement valued at 1.5 million U.S. dollars, is tasked with formulating a strategy to revamp Lebanon's economy.

The strategy will include proposals for a set of economic reforms that should be implemented by the Lebanese government in the next five years.
