PARIS, Oct. 9 (Xinhua) -- As a government reshuffle has been on the spotlight since last week, question marks still hang over the new comers and the outgoing ministers in the new cabinet.

Last week, Gerard Collomb, one of Macron's main backers had forced his departure from the post of Minister of the Interior to run for upcoming municipal contest, forcing the head of state to change his line-up.

Collomb was the third minister to step down in five weeks after the resignations of the popular ecology minister Nicolas Hulot and sports minister Laura Flessel. The series of departures have fuelled criticism over the unity of the government and Macron's authority.

"We must stay true to the initial project, but we need a fresh breath. We must liberate, protect and unite," Richard Ferrand, the National Assembly's speaker and close ally to Macron told Le Journal du Dimanche.

To Nicole Belloubet, justice minister, the due reshuffle should "have a sens" while respecting gender balance and including faces from "right-wing, the left, from the center, from civil society and people who are more marked by politics."

In the opposition camp, this reshuffle must be an opportunity for a change in Macron's policy.

Widely expected to be named earlier on Tuesday, the successor of ex-interior minister remained unknown while eyes are still on the Elysee Palace where the due list should be announced before a weekly cabinet meeting on Wednesday morning.

Rebuffing remarks on the government's "trepidation," French Prime Minister Edourad Philippe stressed "we will not compromise on the commitments that have been made... We will implement the policy on which we have been engaged."
