PARIS, Oct. 10 (Xinhua) -- French President Emmanuel Macron will not reshuffle his government before his return from a scheduled three-day official visit to Armenia on Friday evening, his office said Wednesday.

"The president wishes to take all the time necessary, in a calm and professional way and the respect of people to draw up a coherent team," the Elysee said.

"This team must correspond to the balances on which he is committed to pursue the implementation of the roadmap he had set ... and he also wishes to respect the time of the legal checks," it added in a statement.

On Wednesday morning, Macron chaired a weekly cabinet meeting with the same ministerial staff. Later in the day, he will fly to Armenia.

French Interior Minister Gerard Collomb resigned last week to run in the upcoming municipal elections.

Collomb was the third minister to step down in five weeks after the resignations of Ecology Minister Nicolas Hulot and Sports Minister Laura Flessel. The series of departures have fuelled criticism of the unity of the government and Macron's authority.
