MOSCOW, Oct. 11 (Xinhua) -- Russia and Mongolia conduct anti-terrorist drills in Russia's eastern Siberia, the Russian Eastern Military District said in a statement on Thursday.

The anti-terror exercise is in the framework of the Russian-Mongolian joint military exercise Selenga-2018 at the Burduny training range in Russia's eastern Siberian republic of Buryatia, said the statement.

The joint group from the Eastern Military District and the Mongolian Armed Forces has to locate, block and eliminate an illegal armed group in the drills, added the statement.

Up to 1,000 servicemen and about 200 units of military equipment are involved in the drills.

The Selenga-2018 Russian-Mongolian military drills kicked off earlier this month and will last till Oct. 12.
