VADUZ, Oct. 13 (Xinhua) -- Liechtenstein in the center of Europe has become a popular stop for Chinese tourists and Chinese visitors have thronged its streets in the extended 2018 summer months.

"China is a very important and interesting market for the Principality of Liechtenstein. We got 350,000 tourists last year and the number is growing," Renate Bachmann, head of Tourism Liechtenstein Marketing has told Xinhua this weekend.

Situated between Switzerland and Austria, Liechtenstein has a total area of about 160 square kilometers and a population of over 38,600. The country is gearing its information to Chinese.

"One of our staff in the Tourist Office speaks perfect Mandarin and Cantonese. And there are also plenty of the staff in other shops speaking Mandarin because of many visitors from China," noted Bachmann.

"The Vaduz Castle is a popular destination," said Bachmann. The castle towers over the city. The Chinese visitors also visit the array of museums and art galleries in the capital.

The Liechtenstein National Museum is currently hosting an exhibition titled "Elegance and Savor -- Life and Wisdom in Chinese Culture."

Donat Buechel, curator of the museum, told Xinhua, "The exhibition aims to introduce China's rich and unique culture by presenting selected aspects of Chinese landscapes, plants and animals, festivities, historical customs and conventions."

The exhibition includes Chinese day-to-day life, the world of literary figures and others. Paintings of high quality created by famous Chinese artists were presented.

Buechel said the displayed included art works created since the Ming and Qing Dynasties, as well as brilliant masters in China in the 20th century, such as Qi Baishi, Li Keran and Guan Liang.

The combination of extremely important masterpieces is from the collection of the Beijing Fine Art Academy.
