Belarusian Sabalenka wins WTA Newcomer of Year Award

MINSK, Oct. 19 (Xinhua) -- Belarus' best tennis player Aryna Sabalenka became the WTA 2018 Newcomer of the Year, the WTA press service said on Friday.

At the moment, Sabalenka is 15th in the WTA rankings, rising from the 73rd at the beginning of the season.

In 2018, the 20-year-old tennis player has already won two titles in the Premier tournaments, in New Haven and Wuhan respectively.

In total, Sabalenka won 50 out of 74 matches.
