CAIRO, Oct. 20 (Xinhua) -- Egyptian Foreign Ministry said in a statement on Saturday that "decisive and brave" measures were taken by the Saudi Arabian king over the investigation into the case of missing Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi.

"Egypt sees that the brave and decisive decisions and actions taken by the Saudi king over this matter ... respect the principles of law and applications of effective justice," the statement said.

It also offered its condolences to Khashoggi's family.

The foreign ministry said Egypt "was confident that the investigation would reveal the truth."

The judicial procedures taken by the Saudi government will cut the road for politicizing the case and targeting the kingdom, it added.

According to the foreign ministry, the decisions proved the commitment of Saudi to revealing the truth and taking legal measure against the perpetrators in light of transparent investigations.

Khashoggi, a columnist for the U.S. Washington Post, has been missing since he entered the Saudi consulate in Istanbul on Oct. 2.

Saudi Arabia admitted on early Saturday that Khashoggi was killed inside its Istanbul consulate, saying that he died during a "brawl."

The Saudi king also ordered the setting up of a ministerial body under the chairmanship of the crown prince to restructure the kingdom's intelligence agency and "define its powers accurately."

Saudi Deputy Intelligence Chief Ahmad al-Assiri and Media Adviser of the Saudi Royal Court Saud al-Qahtani were sacked.
