Tunisia, EU to sign 4 agreements worth 307 mln USD

TUNIS, Oct. 24 (Xinhua) -- At the invitation of Tunisian President Beji Caid Essebsi, European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker will make an official visit to Tunisia on Oct. 25-26, Tunisian Presidency said Wednesday.

Four bilateral cooperation agreements between Tunisia and EU will be signed. "These financing agreements are worth a total of 270 million euros (307 million U.S. dollars)," EU Ambassador in Tunisia Patrice Bergamini said to the local press.

Bergamini added the talks will cover areas including business competitiveness, energy transition, support for the justice reform, tax reform and the promotion of social and solidarity economy.

According to Tunisian Presidency, the visit of the European Commission president is part of a shared desire between Tunisia and the EU to strengthen the strategic partnership and bilateral cooperation in several fields, in addition to the continuity of consultations on issues of common interest.
