Ghana to warm up with Zambia, Kenya, South Africa ahead of AWCON

ACCRA, Oct. 25 (Xinhua) -- Ghana's senior national female team Black Queens have lined up three international friendly games ahead of next month's African Women's Cup of Nations (AWCON) in Ghana.

The Black Queens are expected to play Zambia, Kenya and South Africa as they intensify preparations for the biennial tournament, the Ghana FA said on Thursday.

The team will depart here next Tuesday to Zambia to engage the 'She-Polopolo' in an international friendly match on Nov. 3 before traveling to play Kenya on four days later.

The Ghanaian side will return home on Nov. 9 and will wrap up preparations for the competition with a friendly match against South Africa's 'Bayana Bayana' before the start of the two-week contest on Nov. 17.

Ghana's Black Queens has been paired in Group of the 2018 Africa Women's AFCON, alongside Algeria, Cameroon and Mali and will face Algeria at the Accra Sports Stadium in the tournament opening game on Nov. 17.

The biennial tournament's top three teams will qualify for the 2019 FIFA Women's World Cup in France.
