Real estate prices in Hungarian capital lower than in surrounding capital cities

BUDAPEST, Oct. 27 (Xinhua) -- The real estate prices in the Hungarian capital Budapest are lower than in the capital cities of the Central European region, according to a report published here on Saturday.

"Real estate prices rose by 20 percent in the Budapest city center in the third quarter compared to the same period last year, but are still lower than in the surrounding capital cities," according to the data of Duna House, one of Hungary's leading real estate agencies.

According to the most recent data of Duna House, the average square meter price of central Budapest property is of 850,000 Hungarian forints (2,998 U.S. dollars).

This number is 2.13 million forints (7,490 dollars) in Vienna, the capital of Austria, 1.43 million forints (5,029 dollars) in the Czech capital Prague, 1.07 million forints (3,762 dollars)in Ljubljana, the capital of Slovenia, and 913,000 forints (3,210 dollars) in Bratislava (Slovakia), said Duna House.

In Warsaw, the capital city of Poland, properties are offered at rates similar to Budapest, while flats in the capital cities of the Balkans are somewhat more moderate than the prices of the real estates of Budapest, according to Duna House.
