BUDAPEST, Oct. 28 (Xinhua) -- The Hungarian government will double the financial support for people entering the business sector from the Public Work Scheme (PWS), Mihaly Varga, the Minister of Finance said here on Sunday.

"The government will double its employment benefits for public employees of the PWS who are successful in entering the business sector from November 1," Varga said.

Public Work Scheme (PWS) was set up in 2011 with an aim to activate long term unemployed people and to prevent permanent job seekers from getting out of the working life. The scheme offers work mainly to working-age people with little education and no professional skills, who are difficult to find a job.

Varga said the allowance -- above the normal salary -- rises to 45,600 forints (162 U.S. dollars) per month, in order to further motivate public employees to find a higher-paid job in the labor market.

The program entitled "from PWS to the Business Sector" is designed to ensure that people with the right motivation, qualifications, readiness to work do not stay in the PWS, but rather find work in the business sector, thereby helping to achieve full employment, according to Varga.

According to latest official figures, Hungary's unemployment rate decreased by 0.5 percentage to 3.7 percent in the period of June-August 2018.
