YANGON, Oct. 31 (Xinhua) -- Myanmar will hold special sale of raw gems and jade in local currency Kyat in Nay Pyi Taw on Nov. 12-17, the Information Ministry said on Wednesday.

Only local licensed and authorized buyers are allowed to attend the six-day fair, aiming to provide more raw materials to the country's finished gem industry, promote development of the industry as well as stop illegal jade and gems trade with foreign countries.

Minister of Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation U Ohn Win urged gems and jade businessmen to prioritize the sale of finished gem and jade and upgrade the quality of local gems and jewelries to penetrate the international market.

The November sales will be organized by the Myanmar Gems Emporium Central Committee with the support of the ministry.
