SARAJEVO, Oct. 31 (Xinhua) -- The Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina (CBBH) announced Wednesday that citizens' deposits at commercial banks have hit the record of 11.83 billion KM (6.86 billion U.S. dollars).

On the occasion of World Saving Day on Oct. 31, CBBH stated that the households in BiH continuously increase their deposits. And compared with the value at the end of September last year, they increased by 808.9 million KM (469.13 million U.S. dollars) or 7.8 percent.

"Deposits of households have the largest share in total deposits with commercial banks, being 55.4 percent, and therefore represent an important basis for financing and functioning of banks," said the CBBH statement.

Household deposits in domestic currency amount to 5.54 billion KM (3.21 billion U.S. dollars) or 46.8 percent of the share, which is significantly higher than six years ago when the share of deposits in domestic currency was 36.4 percent.

When it comes to deposits in Euro, they amounted to 5.70 billion or 48.2 percent, while deposits in other foreign currencies amount to 591 million or 5 percent.

Every year on World Saving Day, CBBH publishes a report on citizens' deposits. (1 KM=0.58 U.S. dollars)
