KHARTOUM, Nov. 1 (Xinhua) -- Sudan's National Intelligence and Security Service (NISS) on Thursday announced cancellation of all legal cases it filed against Sudanese journalists and newspapers at courts.
"Today we declare beginning of a new phase with the press after signing the Press Charter of Honor," said Chief of NISS, Salah Abdalla, at the signing ceremony held in the Sudanese parliament.
The charter stipulates the freedom of the press in accordance with the law, prohibits the journalists from receiving donations or subsidies locally or from abroad, and further annulled holding journalists legally due to mistakes in report.
