BUDAPEST, Nov. 1 (Xinhua) -- The All Saints' Day in Hungary on Nov. 1 saw many families visit the cemeteries to pay respect for their dead family members and friends.

In one of the oldest graveyards of the Hungarian capital in the district called Budafok, the line was very long at the florist. On Nov. 1, people put more flowers, decorations and candles on the tombs of their loved ones.

Even those who seldom visit the cemeteries -- Hungarians usually pay respect to their defunct loved ones 3-4 times per year on a regular basis, on birthdays, wedding anniversaries, Mother's day or Christmas -- light at least a candle on the stones of the departed.

"We clean the tombstones and put flowers in fresh water, we tell stories about our grandma so that the small children don't forget her," Beata, a mother of four said. "Everybody comes from the family, first we visit the cemetery, then we have a good lunch together, it has now become a tradition."

People enjoyed an usual mild day with temperatures rising to around 20 degrees Celsius. All Saints' Day is also a national Holiday since 2000 in Hungary, all offices and stores are closed.
