Tokyo stocks open higher on solid domestic earnings, Dow's rise

TOKYO, Nov. 6 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks opened higher Tuesday as investor sentiment was lifted by solid domestic earnings reports recently and the Dow Jones Industrial Average's overnight closing high.

As of 9:15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average gained 148.10 points, or 0.68 percent, from Monday to 22,047.09.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, added 10.28 points, or 0.63 percent, to 1,650.67.

Marine transportation, transportation equipment, and electric power and gas-linked issues comprised those that gained the most in the opening minutes after the morning bell.
