YAOUNDE, Nov. 10 (Xinhua) -- Cameroon on Saturday freed popular TV host Mimi Mefo, who heads the English-service of privately-owned Equinoxe TV, after three days in detention, Equinoxe TV said in a statement on Saturday.

"Equinoxe TV is pleased to announce that Mimi Mefo has been set free. She is now with her family," the statement said.

On Wednesday, Mefo was detained for propagating "fake news" that is "highly detrimental" to the morale of the troops clashing with armed separatists in troubled Anglophone regions of Cameroon, according to minister of communication, Issa Tchiroma.

According to her lawyer, barrister Richard Tamfu, Mefo will appear before the military tribunal on Monday.
