NAIROBI, Nov. 13 (Xinhua) -- Kenya's Gor Mahia is keen to carve a niche in the Confederation of African Football (CAF) Champions League after they were drawn up against Nyasa Big Bullets of Malawi.

A total of 30 teams will launch the campaign on Nov. 27-28 with the winners qualifying to play in the FIFA Club World Cup in 2019.

Head coach Dylan Kerr hopes to go further through the premier club competition in Africa, after being kicked out by USM Algiers in the round of 16 last year.

"The idea is to go beyond the preliminary stage and go as far as possible. We need to dominate the competition and confirm the balance of power in football in Africa from North and West Africa to east Africa," said Kerr on Tuesday.

Kerr is certain he will lead his side to the second round where they will meet the winner of the between Cameroon's UMS De Loum and Nigeria's Lobi Stars.

No Kenyan club has been successful beyond the preliminary stage.

"We must go a step further than last year. Though if we lose at the second round matches we will drop to play in the Confederations Cup but a win will book us a historic place in the Champions' League group stages.

"I have video clips from Malawi of Nyasa Big Bullets which we will review and plan accordingly. There is few days left and we must launch our training focused on winning at home and away in Malawi," Kerr said.

Gor returned in Nairobi over the weekend, having been to England to play against Everton in a friendly match.
