MINSK, Nov. 14 (Xinhua) -- Belarusian Economy Minister Dmitry Krutoi said on Wednesday that Belarus plans to make investments doubled by 2025.
Belarus seeks to increase the volume of total investments to 53 billion Belarusian rubles (about 24.85 billion U.S. dollars) by 2025, which is almost twice the current level, Krutoi said at the parliamentary hearings in Minsk.
The official said that Belarus also intends to enter the top 30 in the Doing Business ranking and create the best conditions in the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU).
To reach the set goals, the minister said the government needs to update the legislative framework, adjust a number of regulations governing conclusion of investment agreements, implement the roadmap to remove barriers and exceptions in the EAEU.
The minister said Belarus witnessed the 9.8 percent growth of total investments in Jan.-Sept. 2018. The country attracted 1.4 billion U.S. dollars in foreign direct investment at the same term, he added.
