SKOPJE, Nov. 19 (Xinhua) -- The longest tunnel in Macedonia, "Preseca", officially opened on Monday.
The Chinese company Sinohydro Corp. finished the tunnel of 1996 meters (right part). This is the first tunnel opened with the construction of the Kicevo-Ohrid highway, whereas another one is expected to open in the coming months.
The 57-km Kicevo-Ohrid highway is built in the west of Macedonia, improving the connection to its tourism center Ohrid.
In Macedonia, two main new highways are being built with a total investment of nearly 580 million euros (713 million U.S. dollars).
The projects are built by the Sinohydro Corp. While Macedonian construction companies, employing many workforce in the capacity of subcontractors, benefit from the cooperation as well.
