TOKYO, Nov. 20 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks opened lower Tuesday as investor sentiment was dented by Wall Street's overnight decline which saw the Nasdaq Composite Index drop 3 percent.
As of 9:15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average lost 217.22 points, or 1.00 percent, from Monday to 21,603.94.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, fell 14.95 points, or 0.91 percent, to 1,622.66.
Following the high-profile arrest of Nissan Motor's Chairman Carlos Ghosn a day earlier for allegedly misreporting his salary by 5 billion yen (44 million U.S. dollars), the automaker's shares briefly tumbled to a year-to-date low of more than 6 percent.
Oil and coal product, mining, and miscellaneous product-linked issues comprised those that declined the most in the opening minutes after the morning bell.
