PARIS, Nov. 20 (Xinhua) -- France's unemployment rate in the third quarter of this year was unchanged from the previous three months, the national statistics agency's figures released on Tuesday showed.
With 2.56 million jobless people, 8.8 percent of the active population remained without work in mainland France for the July-September period, unchanged from a quarter earlier.
On a yearly basis, the figure was down by 0.5 percent, according to Insee data.
The unemployment rate for the whole of France was unchanged at 9.1 percent in the third quarter.
The employment rate for the population aged from 15 to 24 rose by 0.4 percent in the third quarter to 20.6 percent. Meanwhile, It was stable for persons aged from 25 to 49 and edged down for old job seekers.
French President Emmanuel Macron plans to lower joblessness rate to 7 percent by 2022.
