LUANDA, Nov. 21 (Xinhua) -- A delegation of seven Chinese agricultural experts are providing a two-week training program for Angolan technicians in central Angola's Huambo city in efforts to help cultivate more local talents and strengthen agricultural cooperation between the two countries.
The training, which started early this week, has attracted more than 20 Angolan agricultural technicians.
According to the delegation, the training mainly focuses on crop production and livestock breeding technologies, which cater to the local technicians' needs to build up their productive capabilities.
"I think the knowledge imparted by the Chinese teachers is quite useful in real work," said Raguel, a 30-year-old Angolan technician with around 10 years' experience in agriculture.
Abrantes Carlos, chief of the Department of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries in Huambo, said the training offered by Chinese experts is timely and necessary since the lack of agricultural talents has long been an obstacle to the development of the province's agriculture-dominated economy.
"We are looking forward to more technical and educational support of such kind," he said.
Angola, a major oil-dominated economy in Africa, has been seeking to develop its agricultural sector to reduce reliance on imports and create more jobs in recent years.
Zhu Jinlin, president of Jiangzhou Agriculture in Angola, said the company has signed an agreement with the Huambo provincial government to help more Angolan students study agriculture in China.
"We are glad to see more Angolan talents, which will definitely further contribute to the mutual cooperation in agriculture." Zhu said.
