ISLAMABAD, Nov. 22 (Xinhua) -- The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) of Pakistan has foiled an attempt to smuggle drugs from the Multan International Airport, local media reported on Thursday.

The ANF personnel recovered 1.5 kg of heroin from a passenger who was on his way to the United Arab Emirates by acting on an intelligence tip-off, said ANF officials.

The officials added that the passenger was carrying contraband in secret sections of his bag and officials recovered the drugs while checking at the gateway of the airport.

The man, who belonged to the country's northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, was arrested and sent to an undisclosed place for investigation. A case has been registered against the accused.

It is the second seizure over the last two weeks. On Nov. 11, the authorities seized 2.4 kg of narcotics worth millions of rupees and arrested a drug-trafficker at the Allama Iqbal International Airport in eastern Lahore city.
