NEW YORK, Nov. 24 (Xinhua) -- An earthquake with a magnitude of 5.8 jolted 261 km southwest of Riverton, New Zealand, at 23:42:39 GMT on Saturday, the U.S. Geological Survey said.

The epicenter, with a depth of 10.0 km, was initially determined to be at 47.9307 degrees south latitude and 165.46 degrees east longitude.
