BANGKOK, Nov. 26 (Xinhua) -- Three people were shot dead by insurgents in southern Thailand's Songkhla Province, reports said on Monday.
The attack happened on Sunday afternoon in a market. Insurgents on motorcycles fired at the market, killing two defense volunteers and an assistant village head, according to the reports.
Police said the insurgents took two M16 assault rifles and a pistol belonging to the victims and fled.
Police said the insurgents might aim to create disturbance in the area and try to undermine security force confidence.
The insurgents were still unidentified. The incident is under investigation.
