SEOUL, Nov. 27 (Xinhua) -- Sentiment among South Korean consumers over economic situations hit the lowest in 21 months amid rising worry about economic downturn, central bank data showed Tuesday.
The composite consumer sentiment index (CCSI) stood at 96.0 in November, down 3.5 points from the prior month, according to the Bank of Korea (BOK).
It was the lowest since February last year. The reading below 100 indicates pessimists outnumbering optimists.
Concerns deepened over an economic slowdown on the worsening of employment data in recent months, the stock market slump and worry about global trade conflict among major economies.
Sub-indices lost ground. The CCSI for current economic situations shrank 5 points over the month to 62 in November, with the figure for future economic conditions sliding 5 points to 72 in the month.
The readings for household income and consumption shed 2 points and 3 points, respectively.
Inflation expectations, which reflect outlook among consumers for headline inflation for the next 12 months, stood at 2.4 percent in November, down 0.1 percentage point from a month earlier. It was the lowest since August 2016.
