LUSAKA, Nov. 29 (Xinhua) -- Zambia's soccer governing body on Thursday congratulated Zambian teams for their bright start in the Confederation of African Football (CAF) competitions.

Zambia has four clubs in the continental competitions and all four recorded victories. 2018 champions Zesco United beat SONIDEP 2-1 in Niger in the CAF Champions League preliminary round while Green Buffaloes recorded a 2-0 victory over Al Merreik of Sudan in the CAF Confederations Cup.

Nkana beat UD Songo 2-1 away in Mozambique in the first leg of the preliminary round of the transitional CAF Champions League while Green Eagles bet Young Buffaloes of Eswatini in the CAF Confederation Cup preliminary first round leg.

The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) said it was happy with the performance of the teams particularly that two of the victories were recorded on foreign soil.

"The results underscores the widely acknowledged fact that the Zambian league is among the best on the continent," the association said in a release.

While acknowledging that the journey was far from over given the second legs due to be played in a fortnight, the soccer body expressed hope that the teams will continue representing the country well.

Andrew Kamanga, the association's president said in the release that the strides being made by the clubs on the continent will drive the country's soccer up the ladder.
