KHARTOUM, Nov. 29 (Xinhua) -- Sudan and Ethiopia on Thursday underlined the importance of establishing joint forces to secure their common border, official SUNA news agency reported.

The two sides voiced the opinion as Sudan's Presidential Assistant Faisal Hassan Ibrahim on Thursday met with the Ethiopian ambassador in Khartoum, the report said.

Creating joint border forces could help prevent smuggling and human trafficking, they agreed.

Ibrahim renewed Sudan's willingness and keenness to secure the border and enhance the bilateral ties with Ethiopia, the report said.

The joint border between Sudan and Ethiopia has witnessed an increase in activities of human trafficking groups.

Sudan is considered as one of major routes for human traffickers and illegal migrants.
