Nepalese vice president meets Philippine counterpart to boost bilateral ties

KATHMANDU, Nov. 30 (Xinhua) -- Nepalese Vice President Nanda Bahadur Pun met with his visiting Philippine counterpart Maria Leonor G. Robredo here on Friday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.

The two vice presidents discussed all aspects of Nepal-Philippines relations while expressing happiness over the growing relations between Nepal and the Philippines in multiple sectors.

"The vice presidents noted that Nepal and the Philippines have immense potential for cooperation in the sector of tourism because of the similarities in culture and life style," the ministry stated in a press release.

During the meeting, Robredo stated that the two countries can share each other's experiences as labor sending countries. She pointed out that both Nepal and the Philippines have been facing similar kinds of problems with regard to laborers working in foreign destinations.

"Nepal and the Philippines can cooperate in several areas including tourism and education," she added.

The Nepalese vice president acknowledged Philippines' support to the Nepali students studying at different universities in Philippines, the ministry stated.

The vice president of the Philippines is on a visit to Nepal to attend the ongoing Asia Pacific Summit that began on Friday.
