Myanmar reiterates pledge to cooperate with int'l organizations on human rights issue

YANGON, Dec. 10 (Xinhua) -- Myanmar President U Win Myint on Monday reiterated the government's pledge to cooperate with international organizations to ensure that the articles contained in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights are respected and implemented.

U Win Myint made the remarks in his message on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

He also urged the ministries, state and regional governments, civil society organizations, state and private media sector and the people to cooperate with the Human Rights Commission to work for the improvement of the human rights situation.

He believed that with collective strength exerted by all sides, human rights will blossom in Myanmar without any distinction between the highland and lowland.

Meanwhile, the Myanmar National Human Rights Commission also issued a statement on Monday, pledging to promote and protect the human rights of the citizens in accordance with the provisions of the commission law.
