TOKYO, Dec. 13 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks closed higher Thursday.
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average added 213.44 points, or 0.99 percent, from Wednesday to close the day at 21,816.19.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, gained 10.04 points, or 0.62 percent, to finish at 1,616.65.
Iron and steel, metal product, and marine transportation-linked issues led those that gained the most by the close of play.
