BERLIN, Jan. 15 (Xinhua) -- German federal prosecutor's office said on Tuesday that they're investigating a suspected spy for Iran in Germany's army Bundeswehr.
The 50-year-old suspect is a German-Afghan national and was caught on Tuesday in western Germany.
His arrest warrant was issued on Dec. 6 last year. He was accused of working for an Iranian news service and supplying sensitive information for it, according to Deutsche Presse Agentur.
The suspect was a translator and a cultural advisor for the federal army. Further details of the suspect was not disclosed.
A spokesman for German defense ministry confirmed the arrest, saying a member of Bundeswehr was in suspicion of his ties with Iran.
So far there is no response from the Iranian side over the news.
