BUDAPEST, Jan. 18 (Xinhua) -- The volume of air cargo of the Budapest Ferenc Liszt International Airport increased by 14.9 percent in 2018, exceeding the 13.5 percent growth rate of passenger traffic, the airport declared here on Friday in a press release.

"Over the last three years, double-digit cargo growth was recorded in Budapest, which is a good indication of the development of the Hungarian economy and its export-oriented industries," the airport added.

The airport detailed: "The volume of arriving and departing cargo that was processed at Liszt Ferenc International Airport last year was 146,113 tons."

"We are focusing all our efforts to make good use of the ideal conditions in Budapest and turn Liszt Ferenc International Airport into a major cargo logistics hub of the Central-Eastern European region," said Rene Droese, director Property and Cargo of Budapest Airport.

Air cargo is generally made up of product groups which represent low weight and high value as a rule of thumb, including electronics, mobile phones, computer parts, car parts, as well as pharmaceutical products.
