ATHENS, Jan. 19 (Xinhua) -- Anarchist group "Iconoclastic Sect" claimed on Saturday responsibility for the explosion of a bomb device outside a central Athens Greek Orthodox Christian church in late December 2018.

The blast on Dec. 27, 2018, slightly injured a church employee and a policeman.

Greek media quoted the group's proclamation released on Saturday as reporting that the newly emerging group, which said it hates religion and society, warned that more such attacks would follow.

No warning telephone call was made before the December's explosion, and according to the proclamation, the group's goal was to cause injuries.

Greek anarchist and urban guerilla groups who have been operating in the country for decades targeting politicians, police, media and financial targets, usually make warning calls to media outlets to avoid casualties.

This was the case on Dec. 17, 2018, when a bomb blast caused extensive material damages, but no injuries at the headquarters of local media group SKAI.

The Greek urban guerrilla group "Group of Popular Fighters" (Omada Laikon Agoniston -- OLA) claimed responsibility for the attack earlier this January.
