HARARE, Jan. 23 (Xinhua) -- The following are the news highlights in Zimbabwe's major media outlets on Wednesday.

-- President Emmerson Mnangagwa on Tuesday denounced violence, saying while it is everyone's right to protest, any demonstration should be done peacefully and within the law.

The President, who was away in Eurasia when MDC-Alliance and its affiliates unleashed an orgy of violence on the public, said the nation should be united and begin a national dialogue for the economy to grow.

And the statesman said Zimbabweans should engage in dialogue since divisions were superficial. He placed primacy on putting the economy and people first. (The Herald)

-- Some looters who took part in last week's opposition-instigated violent protests stashed groceries worth over 3, 000 U.S. dollars in a funeral parlor in Luveve and were busted by the police after they threw a three-day marathon party in the morgue, alarming residents.

Alert residents noticed the strange events and tipped off the police.

Bulawayo police spokesperson Inspector Abednico Ncube confirmed the incident. (The Herald)

-- Embattled President Mnangagwa has called for dialogue involving the country's main political actors, church and leaders of civic groups to find a lasting solution to the country's deteriorating economic and human rights situation.

Mnangagwa, who jetted into the country late Monday night after being forced to cancel his recent roam in Europe, said he was ready for discourse to solve the country's crisis and ensure stability.
