CHICAGO, Jan. 23 (Xinhua) -- Winter storm forced a Detroit airport to close overnight and led to delays, flight cancellations in Chicago on Wednesday morning.

A storm system moving from central Illinois state towards southern lower Michigan state has been bringing another round of moderate snow to the area, said the U.S. National Weather Service.

Airlines at O'Hare International Airport in northwestern Chicago, reported delays averaging 20 minutes on Wednesday morning. Some 150 flights were already canceled to and from the U.S. Midwest air hub, according to the airport administration.

Meanwhile, Detroit Metro Airport, which was closed on Tuesday night due to icy conditions, reopened at about 10 a.m. local time.

Slippery road conditions also disrupted commute in the area. Michigan state police reported multiple spinout accidents across Metro Detroit. Local officials urged people to use extreme caution.
