TRIPOLI, Jan. 23 (Xinhua) -- Maria do Valle Ribeiro, UN deputy special representative in Libya, on Wednesday stressed support for Libyan women's role in peace-building and development.

The UN official made her remarks during a meeting with Laila Al-Lafi, chief of the Libyan government's Women's Empowerment and Support Unit, the UN Support Mission in Libya said.

"Libyan women's role in peace-building and development is paramount," Valle Ribeiro said, stressing support for the unit.
