LONDON, Jan. 27 (Xinhua) -- A British newspaper revealed for the first time the country's top taxpayers on Sunday.

Stephen Rubin and his family, who own a majority stake in JD Sports and have a family company Pentland Group, have been named the largest taxpayer in Britain, according to the Sunday Times.

It is reported that his family will pay an estimated 181.6 million pounds (239.7 million U.S. dollars) in tax for the 2017/18 financial year, which works out at around 480,000 pounds (634,000 dollars) a day.

The family's Pentland Group employs more than 41,000 people and owns sports and fashion brands including Speedo, Ellesse and Berghaus.

The top three taxpayers also include Denise Coates, boss of the online gambling company Bet365, and James Dyson, the industrial design engineer and founder of the Dyson company.

It is the first time for the Sunday Times, known for its Rich List of Britain's wealthiest people, to rank tax contributions.

It estimated the tax due on business profits, share sales, dividends, house purchases and personal income.
